Cantina Gorgo

Lake Garda, Italy

Gorgo Winery, a family-run estate in Custoza, Verona, was founded in 1970 by Roberto Bricolo’s grandfather and is now led by Roberto and his daughter, Roberta. With 50 hectares of vineyards, the winery focuses on organic farming and their wines are crafted from indigenous varieties which showcase the region’s unique mineral-rich soils. Rooted in tradition yet embracing modern innovation.

Gorgo Winery is situated on the morainic hills between Verona and Lake Garda. This region, shaped during the Quaternary glaciations, features gravelly-sandy soils enriched with clay and rock fragments. These mineral-rich soils impart a distinctive saline note to the wines.

Founded in 1973 by Roberto Bricolo in the Custoza DOC area, the winery began with 22 hectares of land and has since expanded to 53 organically farmed hectares, primarily in the Custoza, Bardolino, and Chiaretto DOC production zones. Roberto, originally expected to follow a medical career, pursued his passion for nature instead.

Now, Roberto manages the estate alongside his daughter Roberta, who returned home after practicing law in Bologna. Under her influence, the vineyards underwent a significant conversion to organic farming, completed in 2018.

Roberta believes each wine reflects its terroir and the winemaker’s personality, creating moments of joy and connection for those who share it. She views wine not merely as a necessity but as a source of pleasure that enhances life’s experiences, conveying its essence through sensory exploration.
