Le Crêt de Bine
Beaujolais, France
"At Le Crêt de Bine, our family's deep-rooted love for the land has been passed down through generations since 1870. From Antonin's cooperative beginnings to our commitment to organic and biodynamic agriculture, we’ve always embraced the responsibility of nurturing our ‘Terroir.’ Today, Florence and Geoffroy continue this journey, ensuring the legacy of quality and sustainability for future generations."
François and Marie-Thérèse Subrin, with their daughter Florence and nephew Geoffroy, cultivate a 5-hectare vineyard named “Crêt” in Sarcey, Beaujolais. Situated at an altitude of 410 meters, the vineyard challenges the notion that southern Beaujolais wines lack intensity. Certified organic and biodynamic, the vines on granite soils with quartz and feldspar, averaging 40 years old, are managed with care.
The family, committed to showcasing the region’s potential, promotes a “bubble of life” through agroforestry, insect hotels, and nesting boxes, yielding quality, terroir-driven wines. Emphasizing rapid soil evolution in viticulture, they integrate biodynamics, akin to “homeopathy of organic farming,” benefiting grape and wine production.
They believe that 80% of their work is accomplished when their grapes are balanced, healthy, ripe and characteristic of their terroir. The work of the vines, the life of the soil, the biodiversity of our eco-system are therefore the essential point of their work. Their vinification follows strict principles for characterful wines with finesse, relying on essential biodynamic farming methods.
