Family owned and founded by visionaries Reydan and Roger Weiss, Elephant Hill produce wine from three separate vineyards, in the renowned sub-regions of Hawke’s Bay. Each site is named for its unique micro-climate and soil structure.
The cool, coastal Te Awanga vineyard (SEA), the heavy clay and iron soils of the Bridge Pa Triangle vineyard (EARTH) and the ancient, stony soils of the inland Gimblett Gravels vineyard (STONE)
“Our belief is that great wines are hand-made wines, where meticulous attention to detail starts in the vineyard. A variety of soil types and micro climates give us the ability to capture the different elements and nuances of each particular site, to make wines of complexity and character, nurtured to bottle by our talented winemaker Hugh Crichton”
“These conditions do not occur every year, but when we are blessed by mother nature, we are able to produce our top tiers of wines: Icon and Limited Edition, which showcase the best of what is possible across our 3 vineyard sites; Sea, Earth, Stone”
