Le Battistelle

Brognolio, Soave, Italy

Le Battistelle is one of Soave Classico's finest producers, known for its historic vineyards and exceptional Garganega wines. With vines up to 130 years old and volcanic soils, their wines reflect the unique terroir of the Brognoligo hills.

Nestled between the hills of Vicenza and Verona, Le Battistelle in Brognoligo is Gelmino and Cristina Dal Bosco’s cherished venture.

Here you’ll find grapes with such wonderful purity of fruit so typical of Garganega with great palate weight and texture. Representing the 13th generation, their viticultural heritage dates back to the 17th century. They transitioned from selling grapes to crafting their own wines in 2002, embarking on a bold journey.

This family-run enterprise crafts hand-made wines from 9 hectares of Garganega vineyards on volcanic slopes, where tractors can’t tread. Gelmino and Cristina prioritise chemical-free practices, offering three wines: ”Montesei,” ”Le Battistelle” reserve, and ”Roccolo Del Durlo” with two days of skin contact. Vinification is simple, using stainless-steel tanks and selected yeasts, with top wines aging on fine lees for 6-8 months with regular batonnage.

Rooted in time-honoured traditions, Le Battistelle crafts wines that exude a distinct sense of place.
