Two Rivers

Marlborough, New Zealand

“Our mission is to harness Marlborough’s intense fruit flavours, while producing elegant wines with purity and sense of place.”

-David Clouston, Winemaker & Founder.

Founded by Marlborough-born winemaker David Clouston, whose approach is shaped by extensive international winemaking experience, Two Rivers reflects a philosophy built around subregional expression, textural winemaking, and precise vineyard sourcing. The name references the waterways that shape the region — the Wairau Valley and Awatere Valley — whose contrasting climates and soils provide the foundation for the winery’s layered style.

Fruit is sourced from carefully selected vineyards across Marlborough, particularly the free-draining alluvial gravels of the Wairau Valley and the cooler, wind-influenced terraces of the Awatere Valley. These environments deliver a spectrum of flavour profiles ranging from ripe citrus and stone fruit to lifted aromatics, mineral tension, and vibrant natural acidity

In the winery, Clouston employs a diverse range of fermentation and maturation vessels to enhance complexity and nuance. Alongside stainless steel, parcels may be fermented or aged in concrete egg, amphora, and large-format oak cuves, each influencing texture, oxygen exchange, and aromatic development.
